Shane "Dribble Machine" Woney, a native of The Bronx in New York City, was introduced to basketball at a very early age and was well-known among the locals for his incredible dribbling abilities that would put any professional to the test.
He attended Salesian High School in New Rochelle, NY where he led the team to division champs. As a freshman at Westchester Community College, he continued to participate in Men’s Basketball and the team rose to #8 in the country during the 1990-1991 season with a 25-13 overall record.
During his sophomore year he led the team in scoring steals and assists, crowning him Mid– Hudson Conference MVP for the 91-92 season. This hoop star's reputation extended past the walls of his college and he then took the basketball world by storm. He was known for developing his skills and establishing his reputation at New York's Holcombe Rucker Park, where he earned the name "The Dribble Machine" before joining the AND1 team and guiding them throughout the first year of the AND1 Mixtape Tour featured on ESPN.
Shane’s status as a basketball star afforded him numerous opportunities. He appeared in commercials, for Lays and Mountain Dew. He appeared in magazines, including Slam, Source, XXL, Dime and Compulsive. He was featured in music videos such for Mary J Blidge, Nas, and Smith and Wesson. His popularity also opened up opportunities to travel internationally on tour trips to Asia, Europe, South America, Dubai, and Fiji Islands, while he showcased his unique basketball skills.
Having discovered and accomplished his dream at an early age, Shane knows the importance of paying it forward. As CEO of Future Talent Basketball League, a nonprofit organization which he’s ran in the Bronx for the past 10 years, his main priority is mentoring and developing kids on becoming student-athletes.
Shane is a proud father of two sons, Shane Woney and Chase Woney, the latter who happens to attend and play for WCC in the hopes to become just as great as his dad. Shane focusses on teaching his sons to be extraordinary young men and to be contributors to society.
In April 2022, Shane appeared in Netflix Untold: The Rise and Fall of And1. The story was inspired by New York City streetball, influential brand AND1, which turned local legends on the court into international icons.
