During the 1970's there might not have been a college football anywhere in the country as dominant as Westchester Community College. During a time when teams played 10 or fewer games per season, the Vikings won eight games or more almost every year during a true decade of dominance.

1973 was no exception. Westchester opened the season with back-to-back shutouts over Scranton and Fairfield, during which they outscored both opponents by a combined score of 62-0. After a loss to Iona College during the third week of the season, Westchester went on quite a run, earning five consecutive wins, including a thrilling 41-40 win over Marist College to capture the 1973 ECCFC Championship. Ultimately, the Vikings fell to Iona College, 20-13 in the Metropolitan Bowl to finish the season 8-2, but the year as a whole solidified the team's place as one of the best in Westchester CC history.
