Hall of Fame
During the long and storied history of the Westchester Community College Athletic Department, there are few who contributed as much to the athletic department as Eugene "Buzz" Keefe. After an athletic career at Alfred University that included four years of Cross Country, four years of Track & Field, and four years of Basketball, Keefe earned a Master's Degree from Columbia University before coming to Westchester Community College, where he served as Director of Athletics, Head Golf Coach, Head Basketball Coach, and Head Cross Country Coach for 30 years before retiring in 1977.
After his retirement, Keefe was inducted into the Alfred University Sports Hall of Fame, the Westchester County Sports Hall of Fame, the Westchester Community College Sports Hall of Fame, and is a Hall of Famer with the National Association of College Directors of Athletics (NACDA).
As tribute to Keefe's decades of service to Westchester Community College Athletics, the Eugene "Buzz" Keefe Award is presented during the night of the department's Hall of Fame induction to an individual who has provided tremendous support for the Athletic Department and student-athletes.
