Though Mr. Young played just one season for WCC, his impact on the team helped shape the future of the sport at the college for years to come.  Young ichael completed his year at WCC averaging 20 points and eight rebounds per game on his way to 1st-Team All Region honors.

In the spring of 1973, Michael graduated with an AAS in Liberal Arts. His talents earned him the opportunity to then move on to play basketball for Manhattan College. He played out his final two years of eligibility for the Jaspers, in which he appeared in every game.  One of the highlights of his time there was beating St. John’s University during his junior year to win the 1973 ECAC Holiday Tournament. After a solid junior year, Michael averaged 12.3 points per game during the 1974-75 season as the team’s fourth leading scorer while finishing the season third on the team in rebounds.  During his tenure at Manhattan he appeared in the NIT tournament both years, which featured the top teams in the nation at the time. The team made it as far as the quarterfinals in the spring of 1975 before falling in heartbreaking fashion to St. John’s University, 57-56.

Mr. Young later earned his BS Degree in Physical Education at Hunter College. After a six-year stay as a professor at Bronx Community College to start his career, Michael went on to teach High School physical education in the Bronx and Yonkers for 23 years.
