Hall of Fame
For more than five decades, Tony Mezzatesta has represented the Westchester Community College Athletic Department and community as a whole with class, dignity, and respect worthy of a Hall of Famer. Holding nearly every position one can have while working in support of student-athletes, Mezzatesta spent his entire career at WCC, earning distinction every step of the way.
Over the course of an incredible 54-year career at WCC, Mezzatesta spent 40 years as Chair of the Department of Health, Physical Education, and Human Pefrormance; 25 years as Director of Athletics; 14 years as Head Wrestling Coach; and also served as Intramural Director, Faculty Senator, and twice served as Acting Associate Dean of the Department of Natural & Health Science ... 21 years apart.
As Head Wrestling Coach, Mezzatesta coached eight Region XV Champions, 15 tournament champions, and led the Vikings to seven trips to the NJCAA National Championships in Worthington, Minnesota. As Athletic Director, he oversaw a department that reached unparalleled success in every sport, paving the way the programs current successes.
