Hall of Fame
After an incredible run over the last 20 years for the Westchester Community College Baseball team, the name “McClure” will always be synonymous with excellence, dedication, and honor. And for anybody who has ever been around the Viking Baseball program, the description will forever apply to more than one member of the McClure family. Current Head Coach Billy McClure has won more than 300 games and six NJCAA Region XV Championships for the Vikings, and during every step of the journey, has had his father, Bill McClure, Sr. by his side as an Assistant Coach.
Affectionately known as “Wild Bill,” McClure’s life in baseball began when he played in the first ever game for the Kensico Little League in 1952. He has since served local organized baseball for 66 years, including his stint at Westchester CC.
At Westchester, he has served as an incredible mentor to hundreds of student-athletes, friend to the Athletic Department, and stalwart to the community. When he is not providing guidance to the Baseball program, McClure has taken on the responsibility to oversee maintenance efforts for Vikings Field, no small task for a sport that begins competitive play at the end of what is typically a harsh winter. He has served the program and department admirably for the last two decades, and as a result is being enshrined into the Hall of Fame.
