After an outstanding two-year Wrestling career at Westchester Community College, Nils Strandskov embarked on an athletic journey that many dream of, but few get to accomplish. He earned AllConference and All-Region honors, while also advancing to the NJCAA National Championships during two seasons in Valhalla, and it was only then that Strandskov was approached by the University of Florida and offered an opportunity to wrestle for their SEC program.
Â
During two seasons as a Gator, Nils was not only a member of the 1974 SEC Championship Team, amassing a 7-0 record with six pins in the process, but during his senior year in Gainesville, Strandskov led the SEC with 11 dual-meet pins. He finished with an outstanding 17-9 record during this senior season, and placed second in the SEC Tournament.
Â
After graduating with a BA in Psychology from William Paterson University in 1979, Strandskov started his own insurance agency in 1984, and recently celebrated his 34th year in business.

Nils has been married to his wife, Diane, for 35 years, and has two sons, Nilsen (29) and Erik (25).
