Mickey Whelan is a 1971 graduate of Westchester Community College, and was a soccer All-American during his time with the Vikings. He is also a former player and manager of Dublin and is the current manager of Saint Vincent senior football team. He's a former player for Clanna Gael and won a Dublin Senior Football Championship medal with them in 1968.

 

Mickey Whelan won the prestigous Cu Chulainn Award for his performance with the Dublin senior football team in 1963. He was on the All-Ireland winning side for Dublin in 1958 and 1963. Whelan won the National Football League division one title for Dublin in 1953.
 

Whelan was the Dublin senior football manager between 1996 and 1999. Into 2006, as St. Vincent's manager, he brought his side to the final of the Dublin football championship. In the semi final on October 30, 2006 at Parnell Park, his team brushed aside north side rivals Na Fianna and go on to contest UCD in the final.
