Hall of Fame
The proud history of the Westchester Community College Men’s Basketball program features six Hall of Fame Athletes, one Hall of Fame Coach, one Hall of Fame Public Address Announcer, and - after tonight’s enshrinement - a fourth Team of Distinction and a Hall of Fame Team Manager.
Of the many Westchester CC Men’s Basketball teams to mold the proud legacy for this program, few - if any - enjoyed the success of the 1979 Vikings. Coached by Hall of Famer Ralph Arietta, their incredible 33-4 record included a Mid-Hudson Conference Championship, an NJCAA Region XV Championship, a trip to the NJCAA Division I National Tournament, and were the only Westchester Community College Men’s Basketball team to be ranked #1 in the NJCAA Division I poll. Six team members averaged double figures in scoring, and Allen Collins earned First-Team All-American honors.
