Billy McClure was a standout ballplayer for Byram Hills High School.  He attended WCC and played for the Vikings during the 1999 and 2000 seasons.  He excelled both at the mound and at the plate, being ranked in the top 10 in the NJCAA as a pitcher with an 8-3 record both years he played.  He hit .417 as a freshman and .380 as a sophomore.  After gaining his Associates Degree in Liberal Arts in 2000, Billy earned a scholarship to SUNY Albany and eventually received his Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice from Pace University in 2003.
In the spring of 2004, he joined the WCC coaching staff as an assistant under Hall of Famer, Larry Massaroni.  He was named the head coach in 2010.  From there the baseball program has enjoyed it’s finest stretch of success in school history.
He has led the Vikings to seven Mid-Hudson Conference Championships ('11, '12, '13, '15, '16, '17, '18), six Region XV Championships ('12, '14, '15, '16, '17, 18), and earned a trip to the 2014 Division II College World Series in Oklahoma.   The 2014 team was ranked as high as 4th during the regular season and finished with a school record 43 wins overall.
McClure has been selected Region XV Coach of the Year six times ('12, '14, '15, ’16, '17, 18) and East District Coach of the Year in 2014.  Under McClure's tenure, the Vikings have been nationally ranked during seven different seasons including finishing 9th after the 2014.  The 2015 team was ranked as high as 4th in the nation at one point during the campaign.

In his 13 seasons as head coach, McClure has coached 60 All-Region Players including six that were selected Region XV Player of the Year and four selected as Region XV Pitcher of the Year.  McClure’s programs also produced five NJCAA All-Americans.

Numerous players have moved onto NCAA and NAIA schools under McClure's tenure. Several players completed  their collegiate careers and have moved on to play professionally in the Can Am League, Frontier League, Atlantic League, Pacific Association, and Empire Baseball League.  In 2016, former Viking pitcher Joel Toribio was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 34th round of the MLB Draft.

On April 17, 2022, Coach McClure notched his 350th career victory with a win over Mid-Hudson Conference foe Orange CC 13-7.  Entering the 2023 season, Billy currently holds a .672 win percentage and 355 career wins.
