Hall of Fame
The Eugene “Buzz” Keefe Award is given in recognition of outstanding contributions to the mission of Westchester Community College Athletics. Intended to honor the memory of the late Eugene “Buzz” Keefe, a three-sport coach and the first-ever Athletic Director at WCC, this award is presented to an individual who has been a great friend and supporter of WCC Athletics.
Iman Mims has been a part of the SUNY Westchester community for over 23 years. She began her time here as a student, earning a degree in Civil Engineering in 2001. She also was a two-year member of the Women’s Volleyball team where she served as the team captain during the 2000 season. Iman helped lead the Vikings to back-to-back Mid-Hudson Conference Championships.
After graduation she moved on to NYIT where she earned a Bachelors degree in Architecture and Interior Design. She returned to WCC in a full-time in 2004, where she held various roles, including work with WCC Security. In 2005 she returned to the FSA Business Office and has worked in support of Athletics and other student activities ever since.
In 2007 she rejoined the volleyball team as an Assistant Coach and has remained with the team for 15 years including 3 years as Head Coach. She also is heavily involved with the sport of volleyball outside of the college as she serves as a high school Official as well as being a member of the PAAVO.
Iman resides in Bronx, NY and is currently the Assistant Director of the Faculty-Student Association of Westchester Community College. Her role there supports a myriad of student-centered activities including Intercollegiate Athletics. Some of her day-to day duties support the business side of our department and she constantly goes above and beyond to help us promote positive outcomes for our student-athletes. Her hard work and dedication over the years exemplifies the spirit and legacy of Mr. Keefe, and continues to help the Athletic program excel and grow each and every day.
