Kristine Carosella was a softball player at Ossining High School. At the beginning of her athletic career, she played only in the outfield. Starting in her senior year, she began to split time as a pitcher. Kristine excelled all four years as a member of the team, being named to the All-League Team in all four years she played. However, it was the year she began to pitch where she was named to the All-League Team and the League MVP.

She followed up an outstanding high school career by enrolling at Westchester Community College and joining the softball team. In her two years with the team she shined, maintaining an earned run average of 1.80, a pitching record of 24-4, and a batting average of .534, all while leading her team to a record of 32-7. For her efforts she received several honors including being named to the All-Tournament Team, All Mid-Hudson Conference Team, and the All-Region Team. In addition, she was also named both the WCC Softball MVP and the WCC Outstanding Female Athlete Award for the 1980-1981 season.

Carosella then transferred to Iona College and continued her standout softball career. playing both the outfield and pitching, in her two years she held a record of 20-10 and a sparkling ERA of 1.05. After graduating, she went onto play in a competitive slow-pitch league and has played in National Tournaments around the country.

Carosella was also elected to the Ossining High School Sports Hall of Fame.
