Larry Massaroni, better known to most as Coach Maz, was recruited out of Roosevelt High School in Yonkers, NY by the New York Yankees in 1966. During his professional baseball career, he spent time with the Toronto Blue Jays and Philadelphia Phillies. He became Director of Player Development in the Minor Leagues in 1996 and proceeded to become the General Manager of Elmira in the Northeast League.

His long baseball career featured coaching stops at Fieldstone High School in Riverdale, Concordia College (where he coached Major Leaguers John Doherty and Scott Leius) and becoming Director of Athletics and Baseball Coach at Westchester Community College.

When his playing days were over, Larry spent time as a broadcaster for SportsChannel and is credited with the return of professional baseball back to the City of Yonkers in 1996 with the inaugural season of the Yonkers Hoot Owls of the Northeast Professional League.

He also had the distinction of playing on the New York Yankees overseas travel team managed by Yogi Berra, that played the Austrian National Team in Vienna. WPIX Channel 11 televised the game which was the first ever professional game played in Austria.
