Hall of Fame
Denise Jones becomes the third Westchester Community College Softball Alumnus to enter our Sports Hall of Fame after a playing career during which Jones established herself as a true scholar-athlete at WCC. After earning All-America honors at Maria Regina High School, Jones enrolled at Westchester CC during the fall of 1979, and left quite a mark. A two-sport athlete (she played volleyball during the fall), Jones was a part of two of the best softball teams ever coached by Hall of Famer Len Spina.
During her time in Valhalla, Jones earned First-Team NJCAA All-America honors to go with All-Conference and All-Region honors, and helped lead the Vikings to two consecutive MidHudson Conference Championships, and the 1981 NJCAA Region XV Championship - the only Region XV Championship ever won by Westchester Community College in Softball.
Even more impressively, Jones earned the Leonard Barrett Athletic Award for Academic Achievement for the 1980-81 academic year after achieving a stellar 3.74 GPA while playing two sports. She graduated from Westchester CC in 1981 with a degree in Business Accounting.
After graduating, Jones accepted a Softball scholarship to New York Institute of Technology where she continued her Softball career, and graduated with a degree in Finance. Currently residing in Huntington Station, New York, Jones has two Master’s Degrees from Long Island University.
